Restaurant Manager – Upscale Italian Restaurant

A newly opened upscale Italian restaurant is seeking a Restaurant Manager to support daily operations and ensure excellence in service, hospitality, and team leadership. This role works closely with the General Manager to maintain standards, drive performance, and foster a positive workplace culture.

We are looking for a hands-on leader who values teamwork, communicates effectively, and can balance guest satisfaction with operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service

  • Conduct daily pre-shift and post-shift meetings to increase communication and alignment.
  • Ensure hosts greet guests and answer phones promptly and cordially.
  • Manage seating to minimize guest wait times and maximize revenue flow.
  • Welcome and engage with guests to create a personal, memorable experience.
  • Monitor dining room activity to ensure guests are satisfied with food and service; address issues promptly and courteously.
  • Support the restaurant in achieving and exceeding standards for food quality, safety, and cleanliness.

Team Leadership & Employee Relations

  • Monitor staff appearance and professionalism, addressing issues as needed.
  • Maintain employee recognition and incentive programs to support morale.
  • Assist the General Manager with employee counseling, reviews, and conflict resolution.
  • Build rapport between FOH and BOH to foster communication and teamwork.
  • Support a positive, stress-free, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Train, monitor, and maintain the POS system.
  • Step into operational roles when staffing constraints require.

Operations & Administration

  • Supervise daily restaurant and bar operations, delegating tasks effectively.
  • Ensure accurate monthly inventories are performed.
  • Assist the General Manager with budgeting, sales analysis, and labor cost management.
  • Manage vendor relationships and place orders as needed.
  • Support implementation of marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Assist with maintenance issues that impact business operations.
  • Develop and implement creative solutions for operational improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of restaurant management experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed in high-stress situations.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems; POS experience required.
  • Physical requirements: ability to stand/walk for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and use a ladder as needed.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Compensation

$60,000 – $70,000 annually
